Bolton-based Provence Commercial Properties has bought Cumbrian country inn the Bird in the Hand.
The traditional freehouse, which was built in the 1700s and became a pub in the 1800s, is located at Oulton, near Wigton.
It combines a 28-seat conservatory-style restaurant with stone walls and tiled floor; a music room and bar that can seat another 21 diners; a games room; and a self-contained, four-bedroom owners’ flat on the first floor.
The new owners intend to lease the property to new licensees.
The Manchester office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the property off an asking price of £295,000 on behalf of John and Carol Allan, who are retiring after 14 years in the trade.
