Tulip Inn, Manchester Airport, due to open 2007

Golden Tulip UK has clinched two new hotel deals worth £25m, as it seeks to add 10 new properties to its portfolio in the next 18 months.

Hotels at Manchester Airport and Bournemouth will open in 2007, and come months after new Tulip Inns for Belfast; Chippenham, Wiltshire; Stoke, Staffordshire; and Sheffield, Yorkshire, were revealed.

In the latest deal, Golden Tulip has agreed a 25-year lease with Manchester Airport Developments for a new-build 135-bedroom Tulip Inn hotel.

The company has also taken a 35-year lease of the Metro Hotel in Bournemouth from GSC Property Holdings. It will undergo a £9m refurbishment before opening as its four-star brand Golden Tulip, which will be only its second in the UK after Manchester.

Golden Tulip currently has seven hotels trading in the UK and Ireland. It is due to enter the long-stay apartment sector with the opening of its Tulip Inn Belfast hotel next year.
