Conran’s newly-opened restaurant has been forced to temporarily close its doors following gas and electrical problems in the kitchen, Caterer can reveal.

Fleet Street-based Lutyens, which has been open little over a month, was forced to close today (Monday) and will remain shut until Wednesday evening.

Gas and electrical problems are behind the closure, a Lutyens employee told Caterer. However, the restaurant’s spokesman refused to confirm the cause.

He said: “It's just a minor incident and no part of the front of house has been affected. The restaurant will reopen on Wednesday.”

A statement on the website said that Lutyens had been closed for ‘repair and maintenance work’.

The restaurant opened on June 29 and is owned by Terence and Vicki Conran and Peter Prescott.

It is housed in the former Reuters building on Fleet Street and named after the building's architect Sir Edwin Lutyens.
