Simply Fish to open restaurant in Camden as first of a planned chain

Simply Fish, a new seafood restaurant, is set to open in north London next month as the first of a planned chain.

Opening in Camden in September, it is the first restaurant project from Christie Singam, a former lawyer. Further sites have already been earmarked for Chiswick and St Paul's.

The menu at the 60-seat Simply Fish will be overseen by head chef Sherif Hassan, who previously worked at Kensington Place, Sketch, the Savoy hotel and the Cavendish Square hotel. It will be focused on fresh, sustainable fish and seafood, delivered daily from Looe, Cornwall.

Fish will include the likes of grey mullet, stone bass, sea bream, salmon, monkish or cod, which diners can choose to have pan-fried, steamed, baked, battered or grilled, and served plain or with one of a selection of sauces and accompaniments.

Other dishes will include paella, Cornish crab with garlic butter and fries, and grilled prawns with glass noodles, next to meat dishes such as ribeye steak or open lamb and beef burger. Average spend will be £25 per head.

Meanwhile a deli counter will offer a range of fish stocks, seasonings, caviar, smoked fish and salads next to whelks, jellied eels and potted shrimps. Freshly made wraps and baguettes and fish and chips will be available to take away.
