London restaurateurs have been urged to get involved in a monthly barometer run by Government agency Business Link to help them benchmark performance against their competitors.

The Restaurant Barometer is designed to offer London operators a similar service to the monthly trends research available to hoteliers.

Ashley de Safrin, business adviser for the hospitality sector at Business Link in London said: “In times of economic slowdown, monitoring how you are doing compared to other businesses becomes even more crucial.

“This is why we are launching the Restaurant Barometer to gauge the ups and downs of the sector in London - a monthly temperature check of their takings.

“I urge all London restaurants to take part in this simple, easy-to-fill survey to give an insight of how restaurants - anything from cafes to Michelin starred restaurants - are performing month on month and year by year,” he added.
