Premier Inn passes 50,000 room milestone
The UK's largest budget hotel group Premier Inn has opened its 50,000 bedroom at its latest property at Gatwick Airport.
Opened by Whitbread's managing director, Patrick Dempsey, and employment minister, Mark Hoban, the 630-bedroom Premier Inn London Gatwick Airport, also marks the launch of the group's largest hotel.
The £60m new hotel, which has created 77 new jobs, is one of nine Premier Inn properties to be opened within the wider London area by the end of 2013.
Dempsey said: "Reaching 50,000 rooms across the portfolio is a great achievement that we are very pleased with. Our growth across Greater London is particularly exciting as it means we can offer even more people a great night's sleep in the best locations and we look forward to opening many more over the next few years."
As well as more than 600 hotels in the UK and Ireland, Premier Inn also has properties in Dubai and India.
