More sites on way for Ping Pong chain

Saturday 04 February 2006 08:00

Dim sum group Ping Pong is to open a third London site in less than a year.

The chain, owned by a group of private investors, has bought the lease on the former Scotch Steak House on James Street for a premium of £130,000 on an annual rent of £55,000.

The new outlet in Marylebone is smaller than the flagship Great Marlborough restaurant, offering about 50 covers over the ground floor and basement.

Ping Pong's second site opened in Westbourne Grove in November, and a fourth outlet in the capital is expected to be announced soon.

Average spend is between £20 and £25.

The James Street launch marks the continued development of the area into one of the West End's main restaurant quarters following recent new openings from La Tasca, PizzaExpress and the Fine Burger Company.

Davis Coffer Lyons acted for Scotch Steak House and Shelley Sandzer acted for Ping Pong.
