Revpar falls by 11.4% at London hotels

Revpar fell by 11.4% at London hotels in the week ending 17 January, according to figures from hospitality research company STR Global.

Revpar dropped to £78.28, down from £88.31 in the equivalent week of 2008.

Occupancy declined by 5.7 percentage points to 69.7% while average daily rate decreased by 4.2% to £112.28, compared with £117.15 in the corresponding week of 2008.

In the same week, regional hotels suffered a 13.8% fall in revpar (to £37.82) thanks to a 5.4 percentage point drop in occupancy and a 5.5% drop in room rate.

Manchester hotels outperformed the regional average with a mere 5.1% decline in revpar to £45.60.

Revpar for the 28 days to 17 January fell by 7.1% in London hotels and by 14.2 % in the regions.
