Juniper and The Abbey restaurants forced to close

Swiss chef Michael Riemenschneider has been forced to close his two restaurants The Abbey in Cornwall and Juniper in Greater Manchester.

The development comes just weeks after both restaurants lost their respective Michelin stars.

Riemenschneider took over the Abbey early last year and bought Juniper from Paul Kitching and Katie O’Brien, who relocated to Edinburgh last summer.

A spokesman for the restaurants told Caterersearch that Riemenschneider and his business partner Bill Treloar were dealing with issues relating to the companies behind The Abbey and Juniper.

“While a resolution is being sought both restaurants will remain closed,” he said.

“As discussions are ongoing it is not possible to release further information at this time nor respond to speculation regarding the future of the restaurants. It is hoped that more detailed information may be released shortly.”
