Center Parcs has unveiled a £60m upgrade of its stock to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The leisure park operator has appointed interior design group Target Living to complete a major facelift and add “glamour and contemporary styling” to its visitor accommodation.

A thousand lodges, around 30% of its property portfolio, will be transformed by April 2008.

The new rooms will be split into entry-level woodland lodges and luxury-level executive lodges. The later will feature whirlpool baths, plasma screens, open-plan kitchen and dining areas, oak flooring and large American beds.

“It’s such a departure from where Center Parcs were. We have picked up its offering and dropped it straight into the 21st century,” said Target’s founder and chief executive Tara Bernerd.

Center Parcs, which is owned by investment group Blackstone, has sites in Sherwood Forest, Elveden Forest, Longleat Forest, Whinfell Forest.
