Normandy House Hotel, Ottery

Tuesday 30 November 2004 18:46
Article ThumbnailAncient mariners and operators alike will be attracted to this week's property, a Georgian hotel in the east Devon town of Ottery St Mary, birthplace of poet Samuel

Taylor Coleridge.

The Normandy House hotel - or "the handsome green building" as it's known locally - is a Grade II-listed building that dates back to 1760. It has been awarded four diamonds by the AA and has just obtained a new full on-licence.

Features include a 30-seat restaurant, five en suite letting bedrooms and what property agent Bettesworths describes as a "funky" new lower ground floor bar. In addition, there is a one-bedroom flat, and a paved area to the rear with seating for more than 60.

The former wool town of Ottery St Mary is roughly a 20-minute drive from Exeter. Prospective Otteregians should contact Bettesworths on 01803 212142. The agent is seeking offers in excess of £500,000 for the freehold interest.
