London wine venue Vinopolis opens Italian restaurant, bar and bakery
London wine tasting venue Vinopolis has launched a new restaurant, bar and bakery housed in the railway arches next to Borough Market.
Del Mercato features a restaurant, trattoria, bar and bakery showcasing regional Italian food and wine.
The 3,000sq ft space, which was once used by a tool hire company, is located between Park Street and Brew Wharf. It has been redeveloped by architects Greig & Stephenson featuring exposed brick, steel, glass and wood next to standalone tables and banquettes in red and green leather.
The food offer is overseen by head chef Stefano Motta, who previously worked at Criciole, Latium and Restaurant SD26 in New York. The general manager is Fabio Manfroni.
The menu at the 70-seat Del Mercato Ristorante showcases both traditional and contemporary Italian cuisine, while the trattoria is more informal both in its ambience and menu, offering pasta dishes and pizzas next to classic Italian desserts.
Meanwhile Del Mercato bar, located on Park Street, will be open from 9am to 10.30pm offering a range of coffee cakes and biscuits as well as cocktails, Italian wines and Prosecco, and sandwiches.
Del Mercato Bakery Panificio will offer breads baked by head baker Cristiano Rossi as well as a pizza of the day available by the slice. A selection of biscuits, pasta, olives and olive oil will also be available.
The opening of Del Mercato forms part of a multimillion-pound redevelopment at Vinopolis, which was completed in October.
