From Asia's Siam Winery comes Monsoon Valley, a range of Thai wines. Created specifically to complement the flavours of Thai cuisine, they come from Thailand's largest and oldest wine region, in the Chao Phraya delta, 60km south-west of Bangkok, where traditional grape varieties such as Pok Dum and Malaga Blanc are grown. There are three varietals. Monsoon Valley White is a light-bodied wine said to have a crisp, fresh finish and notes of lemon grass and watermelon, made from the local Malaga Blanc (85%) and Colombard (15%) grapes and produced to accompany green curries, white meat and fish dishes. Monsoon Valley Red is a medium-bodied wine described as having a velvety finish and clean blackberry and mulberry notes, made from a blend of local Pokdum (80%), Shiraz (15%) and Black Muscat (5%) grapes, for drinking with red curries, satay and other meat dishes. Monsoon Valley Ros is a light-bodied wine claimed to have a crisp, delicate finish, being blended from Malaga Blanc, Pokdum and Black Muscat grapes and useful to accompany seafood.
