Critic Guy Dimond visited The Queen Adelaide, Shepherd's Bush, London, and found, encouragingly, that it hadn't overlooked the "pub" aspect of being a gastropub, with a good range of beers.
He said the pub, and its food, occupies the middle ground between the nearby Dubai-like excess of Westfield shopping centre and the pound-shops and Syrian cafes of the adjacent Uxbridge Road. And that, said Dimond, is no bad thing.
The London Evening Standard's David Sexton visited Barny's Place to sample the sandwiches and salad on offer. Secton liked the service but was less keen on eating out of a cardboard box and using disposable cutlery (and the fact that there was no booze).
