A Greene King pub in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, has seen its sales rocket 40% since converting to a no-smoking venue in April.
Steve Dell, manager at the Garrick Inn, said year-on-year food sales to October had soared since the pub banned smoking on the premises after refurbishment.
The move has proved popular with American and Australian tourists, as well as with the local families that use the 50-cover pub-restaurant, he said.
"I think you need to consider carefully who your clientele are, as I don't think going smoke-free is right for all. But if you do a lot of food I'd fully recommend it," Dell said.
The Garrick Inn was part of Laurel's 432-strong neighbourhood pub estate sold to Greene King for £654m in August. The company has 26 smoke-free pubs in its managed portfolio, with another, the Greyhound in Besselsleigh, Oxfordshire, converting this month.
Greene King's tenanted division, Pub Partners, has two smoke-free pubs - the Beehive in Horringer, Suffolk, and the Free Press in Cambridge.
