Monday 29 November 2004 19:08
Lilly's, London EC1
Wapping has a new local from the man behind the Caf‚ Med chain, Simon Binder. He says his philosophy for the new business is simply to provide a good neighbourhood restaurant. There's also a separate wine bar. Interiors are designed in a New York brasserie style with walls in plum and cream and an eclectic mix of light fittings, including chandeliers.

Industry, Shoreditch, London
This is the second bar from the man behind Dust in Clerkenwell. Expect the usual industrial-style interior this area seems to breed, with exposed bricks and sandblasted beams. More originally, the walls are decorated with oversized images illustrating the area and the building's industrial past. Different areas of the bar offer different moods, with comfy sofas, DJs and a dining room.

Osteria dell'Arancio, King's Road, London
Harry and Rachel Hampson were so taken by Michele Alesiani's Michelin-listed restaurant in Italy's Marche region they invited him to export the concept - and much of his team - to the King's Road. A fixed-price menu is served, but diners will be treated to ad hoc samples and tasters from the kitchen. The focus on relaxed, traditional Italian hospitality is most evident in the mismatched, reclaimed furniture of the more casual restaurant (with salami and cheese bar) downstairs, while the works of Italian artist and cartoonist Vittoria Facchini adorn the walls of the upstairs restaurant.

Opens: 23 November
Owners: Harry and Rachel Hampson
Head chef: Missimo Garofoli (three-Michelin-star experience)
Seats: 35 downstairs, 40 upstairs
Food: Kick off with an antipasta dish of rabbit, celery and potato salad with black truffle, followed by a first course of ravioli of purple sprouting broccoli, mussels and Navelli saffron. Then tuck in to a main course of lamb roasted with potatoes and artichokes, and finish with a hot chocolate mousse with nougat semifreddo and Strega sauce.
Average spend: £30 for five courses
Address: 383 King's Road, London SW10 0LP
Tel: 020 7349 8111
