London hotels achieved the highest revenue per available room (revpar) during December 2006 of the 10 European cities surveyed in the monthly Europe HotStats survey from TRI Hospitality.

The UK capital boosted revpar by 17.7% to €141.56 thanks to a 12.9% hike in average room rates to €187.53 (the highest rate in the survey) and a 3.1 percentage point rise in occupancy to 75.5%.

Paris came second in the revpar and room rate stakes (at €131.35 and €184.69) but the biggest increase was seen in Moscow.

The Russian capital increased revpar by 20.3% to €119.28 (putting it fourth in the table just below Vienna).

This growth was fuelled by a 16.5% rise in average room rate to €184.08, just behind London and Paris.

Occupancy levels of 64.8% put Moscow fourth from the bottom in the survey, with only Berlin, Budapest and Hamburg faring worse.

The highest occupancy rate was found in Vienna at 82.2%, followed by London at 75.5%.

The figures are compiled each month by Tri Hospitality Consulting.
