Trishna, Mumbai

Mumbai-based seafood restaurant Trishna is to make its debut on the London dining scene, with the opening of an outlet in Marylebone village this autumn.

Trishna London, which is scheduled to open in the former site of Verbanella on Blandford Street in October, will be a 65-seat restaurant comprising a main dining room, bar, alfresco area and 12-seat private dining room.

Interiors, which are being overseen by London-based design consultancy B3 Designers, will include oak flooring, marble and exposed brickwork.

Trishna London will serve a menu of south-west Indian specialties including many of the original outlet’s signature dishes such as mussels and clams stir fried with roasted coconut and Mangalorean spices; and Hyderabadi monkfish cheek tikka. Average spend will be around £40 for dinner including drinks.

Head chef will be Ravi Deulkar, who previously headed up the kitchen at London’s Michelin-starred Rasoi Vineet Bhatia, and all of the seafood will come from sustainable sources in Cornwall, Dorset and Scotland.

Trishna proprietor Karam Sethi told Caterersearch it had taken a year to secure a London site. “Trishna in Mumbai already has a big client base from London so it made sense to open an outlet here,” he said.

“Most of the Indian restaurants here offer north Indian cuisine so by serving a menu of coastal food will give something new to the market.”
