Hoxton carries off hotel award for third consecutive year

The Hoxton hotel in East London has been named Best UK Hotel in the Guardian and Observer Travel Awards for the third consecutive year.

Voted for by the readers of The Guardian, The Observer and Guardian.co.uk, the award recognises the hotel's combination of great-value rooms and a cool location.

David Taylor, general manager of the 205-bedroom hotel, which opened in 2006 with the mantra "budget doesn't need to be boring", said he was delighted with the property's latest award success. "The Hoxton is going from strength to strength, and this award would not be possible without the dedication and enthusiasm of our team and our guests here at the hotel."

Runner-up in the Best UK Hotel category was the recently sold Mint Hotel group, with the Sofital group in third place.

Meanwhile, the Best Overseas Hotel award went to the Dubai-based Jumeirah group, with Mandarin Oriental and Oberoi Hotels & Resorts in second and third places respectively.
