Fit Fruit and Vegetable Wash

The Fit Fruit and Vegetable Wash is an environmentally-friendly anti-bacterial wash for salads, fruit and vegetables that is being heralded as potential replacement for standard washes based on chlorine, a potentially harmful chemical.

The 100% naturally-sourced wash combines natural acids, oils and a surfactant which, unlike chlorine-based systems, will clean as well as disinfect food, removing soils, insects, surface pesticides and waxes. This makes it a more effective zapper of food-poisoning bugs such as E coli, salmonella and listeria - it achieved kill rates as high as 99.9% in laboratory tests.

It is safe to use on whole, chopped or sliced foods and is certified for vegan and kosher use. The new wash, which costs no more per litre of diluted liquid than chlorine-based versions, comes in a range of sizes from individual powder pouches to 9kg tubs, yielding 1,800 litres of mixed wash, and 770kg industrial sacks. It is also available as a spray or immersion solution.
