The insulated drawers in Adande fridges and freezers can save up to 40% in energy use by preventing cold air from escaping when the drawer is open - which, in traditional cabinets, exposes food to ambient air and can send temperatures soaring.

Trials of a two-drawer Adande fridge in a pub chain over five weeks revealed savings of 41% against a comparable conventional model, with energy use reduced by 75.1kWh.

Similar tests of an Adande upright freezer in a branded fast-food chain yielded weekly energy savings of 69kWh, which would cut annual bills by £359.
