Cucina launches recipes iPhone app

Education caterer Cucina has launched a recipes iPhone app aimed at students who want to impress family and friends with their culinary skills.

The free app follows the success of the caterer's Top Banana cards, a series of recipe cards that it presented to school leavers.

Steve Quinn, managing director, said: "Cucina's philosophy is to make meals fun and help students to broaden their knowledge and appreciation of good food, prepared well, on a budget.

"The new app brings these cards bang up to date and can be accessed wherever their iPhone or iPad is by budding Nigellas or Jamie Olivers."

The recipes are at three levels - 'assemble', 'cook' and 'impress' - and also colour-coded: green for mainly healthy snacks, starters or light bites; blue for more substantial meals like lunch or dinner; and red for indulgences like desserts and puddings.

Jackie Lees, now in the first year at Manchester University said: "I've already tried the strawberry shortbreads and making my own pizza dough. My friends were well impressed. They did the washing up for me and want me to do more cooking, which is really great."

The Top Banana Recipe Cards app is available from the iTunes App store.
