Winner: Mighty Leaf Tea UK Chamomile Citrus Pouches
Chamomile Citrus Pouches have been created especially for the hospitality sector. The hand-crafted, stitched and individually wrapped biodegradable tea pouches contain whole-leaf blends, fruit pieces, spices and flavours that are too big for ordinary tea bags. Judges commented that it was "good to be able to see the content of the tea bags", which "smelled beautiful" and had a "lovely appearance". They described the packaging as "classy" and "upmarket".
The tea bags are individually wrapped to ensure the tea looks and smells as fresh as when it was packed, and the judges praised the tea's "refreshing and clean" taste.
The pouches are designed for a two-cup teapot, and the tabs show the brew time for each blend. The tea is made with Egyptian chamomile flowers, known for their calming and anti-inflammatory properties, and slices of citrus fruit, containing vitamin C, folic acid, beta-carotene and fibre.
With its soothing qualities, Chamomile Citrus Pouches can be served in a variety of catering situations as part of a balanced tea menu, and the pouches provide an easy and convenient way to serve tea without the need for staff training in serving loose teas.
The company recommends using one pouch per 12oz pot and presenting the tea pouch to the customer still in its outer wrap alongside a pot of freshly boiled water to give the customer control over the brewing process.
