An "idiot-proof" and "clever idea" that "will be very successful" was the resounding verdict that won this category for Brakes' exclusive packs of mixed pork-based Italian meats.
Each mono pack contains an individual serving that combines one slice of prosciutto crudo, two slices of coppa di Parma and two slices of salami Milano.
Importing the meats from Italy to provide authentic quality and style has certainly paid off for Brakes, with the judges praising their "prime quality" and "good flavours".
Convenience and ease of use were also uppermost in the judges' minds. They were impressed by the fact that the mixed pre-sliced cuts not only provided welcome variety for the customer, but totally eliminated wastage for the caterer through "good portion control".
Value for money was another attribute that spoke in Brakes' favour. The 45g packs are sold in cases of eight with a list price of just £10.50.
