Turning out beautiful desserts with a wow factor is no easy task, and not every operation has its own pastry chef to dedicate their time to the final course. This is where prepared desserts come to the rescue, and there are now some very appetising creations on the market.

Speciality Desserts' Caramelised Orange Torte was developed to offer several benefits to caterers. The style is balanced to ensure suitability over a wide range of operations from pubs and restaurants to banqueting, and being "visually very good" means very little extra garnish is required.

As far as flavour is concerned, the orange-infused custard on a biscuit crumb with orange segments and caramel glaze has used a popular flavour profile with year-round appeal, as the freshness of the orange makes it a suitable dessert for summer menus, while the warmth of the cinnamon biscuit crumb lends itself well to winter and Christmas menus.

For "easy service", the dessert is pre-cut into 14 "good-sized" portions and interleaved, and at 71p per portion was deemed "value for money".
