Winner: Steng Ingredients Slow Roast Tomato Tapenade

Vine-ripened tomatoes are slowly roasted, pur‚ed and married with aged balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil to create this versatile tapenade, which aims to capture the vibrancy of the Mediterranean. Its uses include in hors d'oeuvre as is traditional for a tapenade, but it can also be used as a dressing for salad or as a heated sauce for meat and fish.

Its authenticity won favour with our judges, who described it as a "clean, natural product" with a "lovely taste". One declared its "good flavours" ideal for use on canapés, while another thought it would have an application in gastropubs.

The company has traded in herbs and spices from all over the world for generations and is a major grower and processor of more than 1,000 acres of herbs.

From the same ingredients a large range of spice and herb pastes, marinades, purées and condiments has been created.

All produce and ingredients are subject to strict quality controls and a full quality-management system, coupled with complete traceability from field to finished product.
