Compass acquires Japanese food service company

Compass Group has announced the acquisition of NKS Kabushiki Kaisha, a food service operator in Japan.

The company, which primarily provides services to the healthcare sector, had revenues of ¥6.4b (£50m) for the 12 months to 31 March 2011, and gross assets of ¥4.7b (£36m).

Based in Tokyo, it operates about 200 units with more than 1,200 staff.

The acquisition strengthens Compass' presence in the expanding healthcare sector and, in particular, in senior living, which is a significant growth area in Japan.
