Six former Med Kitchen and Café outlets in London have been sold following the collapse of previous owner Winepage, which was forced to call in the administrators last year.
The restaurants in Notting Hill, Chiswick, Islington, Clerkenwell, Covent Garden and St John’s Wood were sold for an average premium of £250,000, with the latter four bought back by the group’s former managers Rupert Hill and Ray Defazio.
The remaining two outlets were acquired by independent operators.
Richard Negus, director at property agent Fleurets which brokered the deals, said the properties were sold despite a difficult market, in which buyers remain reluctant to pay premiums to administrators.
“The quality of locations and properties stimulated sufficient interest to ensure that premiums were achieved for all of the restaurants,” he said.
