Readers of Harpers & Queen magazine have voted Jeremy Corbin and Chris King’s Wolseley the best restaurant in London, while they named Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck in Bray the best outside the capital.

The Harpers and Moet Restaurant Awards, which have been running since 1998, included a new category this year for Vintage Year.

This went to Tom Aikens’ eponymous Chelsea restaurant, which was felt to have enjoyed an exceptional 12 months of success.

Rainer Becker’s Zuma and Roka restaurants won him the Chef of the Year accolade, while another Oriental-themed restaurant, Alan Yau’s Yauatcha in Soho, scooped the Newcomer of the Year award.

Cipriani in Mayfair took the Best Scene award for being seen as the most “hip and happening place”.

Sommelier of the Year was Philippe Messy at L’Etranger in South Kensington while Thierry Tomasin and his brigade at Aubergine in Chelsea were judged to be the Best Front Of House Team.
