The five-star Swissôtel the Howard, London, has appointed a new director of sales and marketing, Simone Broekhaar. She joins from Swissôtel Amsterdam hotel, where she was director of sales and marketing.

Glasgow company BDL Hotel Group has chosen Sjanna Steffens as sales manager of its Ramada Encore London West hotel. She was sales manager at Express by Holiday Inn Croydon, Surrey.

Diane Lofthouse has joined Pageant Hotel Group as business development manager at Llyndir Hall hotel, near Chester. She was sales director at Knowsley Hall, Prescot, Lancashire.

Stan Janse van Rensburg has become general manager of the Sandown Park Lodge hotel at Sandown Park racecourse in Esher, Surrey. He was an area operations manager for Desborough Hotels, a regional hotel company operating within the M25 area.

John Bradley has joined the Royal Oak hotel in Leominster, Herefordshire, as head chef. The property, owned by husband and wife team Corinne and Carl May, will be transformed into a training hotel in the near future. Bradley, who was executive chef at the Mytton & Mermaid hotel, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, hopes to win two AA rosettes for the 40-seat hotel restaurant.

Martin Woods is the new general manager of Moat House Hotels' 133-bedroom Peterborough hotel in Cambridgeshire. He was previously general manager at the Bedford Moat House hotel.

David Thomas has become Choice Hotels Europe's UK accounting centre controller. He was previously audit manager at AAH Pharmaceuticals.

Whitbread hotel company has promoted Abigail Langan to head of communication for Marriott UK. She was previously public relations manager for Whitbread Hotel Company, a role that saw her cover both Marriott and Travel Inn. Keith Hardie has joined the company as head of communication for Premier Travel Inn. He was previously head of communication at Thames Water.

Gary Stevenson is the new sous chef at Glenmorangie Highland Home country house, Cadboll, Ross-shire. He trained with Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles restaurant as chef tournant, and was most recently head chef at Uliveto restaurant, Sydney.


Move of the week

Nick Halliday, previously general manager of Malmaison's Newcastle hotel, has joined Andrew Brownsword and Michael Caines as head of hotel operations at Andrew Brownsword Hotels. The company owns the Royal Clarence hotel in Exeter and the Arthouse hotel in Glasgow.
