The Great Western Inn, Corsham

Article ThumbnailFor the beer aficionados among you, this week's featured property is a West Country community pub with some pretty solid real-ale credentials.

The Great Western Inn is located in the Wiltshire town of Corsham and is named after Isambard Kingdom Brunel's Great Western Railway, which runs near by. It is known for its real ale, featuring three regular cask beers and a guest ale, and is listed in the Campaign for Real Ale's Good Beer Guide.

The Great Western offers plenty of room for improvement, however. Currently, wet trade accounts for 90% of revenue, and there is lots of potential to build the "no-frills" food menu to generate additional income.

Trading hours are also limited at present, with Saturdays and Sunday being the only days the pub is open all day.

The property has two bars, a kitchen and three-bedroom accommodation, and boasts two large storage rooms, which the selling agents advise could be converted into additional trade benefits, including letting rooms, subject to the necessary planning consents.

Licensed property agents Bettesworths (01803 212142) is seeking offers in excess of £455,000 for the freehold interest.
