UK hotels head short list in European Hotel Design Awards

UK hotels feature prominently in the European Hotel Design Awards 2010 shortlist.

Nominations among the 13 award categories include the newly-opened Town Hall Hotel & Apartments, which has undergone a bold, and innovative £20m conversion in London's Bethnal Green. Set in a 1930s Grade-II listed former town hall, the hotel now has 98 bedrooms, with the former council chamber converted into a conference and cinema room.

The Town Hall Hotel has been nominated for the Conversion of an Existing Building to Hotel Use Award, alongside properties from Greece, Spain and Italy.

Judges for the annual awards include Simon Ford of InterContinental Hotels Group, Khirstie Myles of Marriott International, Andrew Onraet of Von Essen Hotels and Eugene Staal of Rezidor Hotel Group.

The winners of the awards will be announced at the Lancaster London hotel on 232 November.
