Time is running out for budding young chefs with a flair for Spanish produce to land themselves three days’ work experience at Ferran Adria’s three michelin starred El Bulli restaurant.
Youngsters have got a week left to impress judges at this year’s Foods from Spain's Spanish Young Chef of the Year competition, which is open to entrants of any nationality between the ages of 17-23, with a proven interest in cooking.
To be in with a chance of winning a stint in what is often referred to as the world’s best restaurant, students must design a three-course meal for four covers, using Spanish fruits in each course.
On entry, they must supply details of ingredients, method, and a colour photograph of each dish.
Each course must feature one fruit from one of the pairs of ingredients (strawberries or raspberries, Picota cherries or plums and persimon or cherimoya), ensuring that at least three of the six fruits features in the menu overall.
The first prize is a five-night trip to Roses, Costa Brava, Spain including a three-day work experience in the kitchen at El Bulli restaurant at Cala Monjoi.
The closing date is 10 October. To download an entry form and for details, visit: www.foodsfromspain.co.uk, or call 01480 465 953 and ask for Ana Lacuna.
