National Chef of the Year to be revealed tomorrow

Tomorrow sees the winner of the prestigious biennial National Chef of the Year competition named after a live cook-off at the Restaurant Show at London’s Earls Court.

The event, run by the Craft Guild of Chefs and sponsored by Knorr, is one of the most respected culinary challenges in the industry today.

Past winners include Gordon Ramsay, Eyck Zimmer and Mark Sargeant.

This year’s finalists include David Kennedy, chef-proprietor of the Black Door restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne; Steve Allen, head chef of Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s in London; and Simon Hulstone, chef-patron of the Michelin-starred Elephant restaurant in Torquay.
