Westfield London, the £1.6b retail development in White City, west of the capital, opened it's doors Thursday (30 October).

Home to nearly 50 dining outlets featuring 25 types of cuisine and nationality, the dining offer is divided into three areas: the Southern Terrace, the Balcony, and the Loft.

The Southern Terrace, on the pedestrian level with outside dining space, features 17 restaurants including BBC Masterchef winner Thomasina Miers's second Wahaca outlet, Tom Etridge's latest concept, Ito, and Swiss vegetarian group Tibits. Chains Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Wagamama and The Real Greek are also present.

Additionally Asian restaurateur Alan Yau is to launch a second Yauatcha in the Southern Terrace.

The Balcony Area, which overlooks the main shopping hub, the Atrium, has 13 dining outlets. These include Vietnamese concept Pho, dim sum restaurant Bamboo Basket, Italian venture Ooze Risotteria, and Japanese chain Yo! Sushi.

Michelin-starred Club Gascon owners Pascal Aussignac and Vincent Labeyrie have launched Croque Gascon at the Balcony, while Tony Kitous is introducing Comptoir Libanais, a casual Middle Eastern restaurant.

The Loft area, which is beneath the cinema, features four family-friendly restaurants: Nando's, Pizza Express, Byron and Spaghetti Tree.

Tracey Mills, director of development at Davis Coffer Lyons, the property agent for the restaurants, said Westfield's offer is different to anything seen in the uk before. "Many of the dining outlets are new concepts or international restaurants making their uk debut," she said. "Westfield is outside of the norm and will attract visitors not just from London."
