Luxury hotel planned near Tower of London

Franklyn Hotels and Resorts is to manage a new luxury hotel overlooking the Tower of London to be developed in the Grade II-listed former Port of London authority headquarters.

A Singapore-based consortium, KOP and Reignwood, has bought Ten Trinity Square from American developer Thomas Enterprises in a deal believed to be about £100m, with a view to revive an earlier plan to redevelop the property as a hotel.

Woods Bagot, the architects who drew up the original hotel conversion plans in 2008, have been retained. The imposing building, with an internal area of 255,000sq ft, was originally designed by Sir Edwin Cooper in 1922.

Franklyn Hotels and Resorts currently manages several European hotels including two in London, the 65-bedroom Cadogan and 11-bedroom Durley House, both on Sloane Street.
