Andre Balazs to open hotel in London

Andre Balazs, the owner of some of the USA's most iconic hotels, is set to launch a property in London.

Situated on the site of the old fire station on Chiltern Street, Marylebone, the hotel is expected to open in 2013.

Few details have been confirmed about the property, but it is expected to match up to the luxury hotels within the Andre Balazs Properties portfolio, including the Mercer in New York, Chateau Marmont in Hollywood and Sunset Beach on Long Island.

Hungarian-born Balazs, who is well-know for a string of celebrity girlfriends including actress Uma Thurman, entered hotel and residential property development in 1990 with his purchase of the legendary Chateau Marmont.
