Gordon Ramsay Kitchen Nightmares

Gordon Ramsay has turned around many restaurants since the launch of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares but even a makeover by the celebrity chef could not save Brighton fish restaurant Love’s Fish.

The Michelin-starred chef helped to boost trade at Allan Love’s restaurant – formerly known as Ruby Tates - after it was featured on the Channel 4 show in 2007.

But, last November, Love warned that trade had since slumped by 50% and a note pinned to the door of Love’s Fish this week confirmed the restaurant had closed for good.

In a message on the restaurant’s website, Love said: “We would like to thank everyone who came to the restaurant over the past two years for their support and good wishes. We were very lucky to have had such a wonderful mixture of people to serve. It's a very sad time for us all but we hopefully will try to be positive for the future.

“Also - Thank you Gordon Ramsay for all your efforts, at least we tried eh?”

It seems that Ramsay does not have the best of luck with Brighton restaurants. Exactly a year ago it emerged that Momma Cherri’s, which featured on Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares four years ago, had been placed into temporary administration with debts of £200,000.

The restaurant was subsequently rescued and will be hosting an event to mark the inaguration of Barack Obama as America's president on the 20 January.
