Compass boosted by US despite weak European market
A strong performance in North America has helped contract caterer Compass to record an 8% rise in global first quarter sales.
Organic revenue growth in was "almost 5%" but hit 8% once the effect of acquisitions was included.
The performance offset a weak European market where sales volumes are still being impacted.
The company indicated that sales levels were starting to return to normal after the earthquake in Japan last year.
In a statement, Compass said: "We have seen good levels of new business wins and the improved level of retention we achieved in the second half of last year has continued into the new financial year."
