The Kitchen

An award-winning tea shop/restaurant in the centre of the busy Cotswold village of Minchinhampton, near Stroud, is for sale.

The Kitchen, which opened in 2004, scooped the Gold accolade in the Taste of the West awards for both 2005 and 2006

The tea shop/restaurant occupies a Grade II-listed building that is believed to date from the 17th century.  Its prominent bay window makes it highly visible along the High Street.

The business opens between 9am and 5pm for five days a week serving breakfasts and coffees, light lunches and afternoon teas. It is not dependent on the vagaries of tourism, having built up a strong local repeat trade.

The 35-seat tea shop trades across two rooms on either side of a chimney breast that feature beamed ceilings, a range in the fireplace, stone floors and a trompe l’oeil mural.

The upper floors house a two-bedroom owners’ flat with a lounge, kitchen diner and two attic rooms.

Outside, there are two pavement tables and another two tables in the rear walled garden.

The Cirencester office of Colliers Robert Barry is inviting offers in the region of £595,000 for the freehold.
