Compass Group to caterer for Heathrow Terminal 5 employees

Compass Group’s Eurest business and industry catering division has landed a £50m five-year deal to provide catering and hospitality at Heathrow Terminal 5.

The contract sees a 90-strong Eurest team providing services for airport owner BAA’s employees and other staff based at the new terminal, which opens on the 27 March.

Compass is already providing services at British Airways’s business lounges at Terminal 5.

Facilities include two restaurants, two Ritazza coffee bars and three convenience shops, some of which will be open around the clock.

Diners will be encouraged to separate waste into glass, cardboard, tin, plastic, organic and general waste for recycling purposes.

Liz Church, operations performance leader for Eurest, said: “This highlights the excellent working partnership we have with BAA, who we have provided catering for at other Heathrow terminals since 1997.”

The likes of Wagamma, Carluccio’s, Gordon Ramsay, Apostrophe and Giraffe are all set to open to the public at the new building.

• Marriott has just completed a £5m facelift of its Heathrow/Windsor Marriott hotel located some 10 minutes away from Terminal 5. The refurbishment is part of the company’s £120m Nip & Tuck programme to revamp 38 hotels across the UK.
