Marylebone Warwick Balfour (MWB) is to spend £100m on expanding its Malmaison and Hotel du Vin hotel brands to 25 properties by 2007.
The latest project to be unveiled is Great Western House, a 69-bedroom Malmaison in Reading, which it hopes to begin working on by the end of the year, once it has gained planning permission.
Robert Cook, Malmaison's chief executive, stressed the company's desire to expand the Hotel du Vin brand further north in cities such as Durham, York, St Andrews, Chester and Edinburgh.
Other city locations were being sought for Malmaison hotels, including the West End in London, Nottingham, Bristol and Dublin.
Cook said: "We have repositioned Mal. It is back on track. We are not going to rest on our laurels as we have a long way to go to consolidate the brands and make them the best in UK."
In the half year to 31 December, Malmaison reported occupancy levels up by five percentage points to 80%, while average room rates also improved to nearly £100 a night, boosting turnover by 42% to £21.5m.
This performance boosted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of goodwill to £6.4m, compared with £3.8m a year ago.
