The Rushmere restaurant and bar in the West Sussex seaside town of Selsey has been sold to Tim Benham and his family after 14 years under the same ownership.

The detached building, originally a members’ club, was converted into a restaurant and bar in 1993.

It occupies a prominent corner position in the town (which is seven miles south of Chichester) and is a short walk from both the high street and the beach.

It comprises a number of interconnecting rooms that include an L-shaped lounge bar with seating for 42, a 28-seat restaurant with a 34-seat conservatory add-on, and the Sandpiper function room that can seat 42 for a formal meal and has a portable dance floor. Outside, there is a large patio area adjacent to the building.

Two two-bedroom flats provide owners’ accommodation on the first and second floors.

The Southampton office of Colliers Robert Barry was seeking offers in the region of £775,000 for the freehold.
