Peyton and Byrne to open second restaurant at the Royal Academy of Arts
Concession caterer Peyton and Byrne is to open its ninth restaurant next spring, at the Royal Academy of Arts, the company has announced.
The new venue, the company's second major space at the academy, will launch as part of an extensive £5.7m renovation of Keeper's House, part of the Eastern Wing of the Academy's historic Burlington House.
The new restaurant will occupy an unused floor of the Keeper's House, more than doubling the space currently available, following the revamp led by architectural practice Long & Kentish with interior design by Sir David Chipperfield.
Directly accessible from the courtyard as well as from the Royal Academy front hall, it will be able to open outside of gallery hours.
Peyton and Byrne chairman Oliver Peyton is developing a new concept for the restaurant and adjoining cocktail bar.
He said: "The Royal Academy and I share a commitment to constantly improving the experience of those visiting this world-class institution.
"Developing these important spaces for the public, the Friends of the Royal Academy and the eminent artists and architects that make up the Royal Academicians is hugely worthwhile.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for us and I intend to create a very different restaurant for the Keeper's House, one that really pushes the boundaries of dining in public spaces."
Peyton and Byrne first began working at the academy in 2010.
