Seven in 10 non-smokers are more likely to eat in pubs, following the introduction of the smoking ban while 36% intend to visit pubs more frequently, research revealed today.

The Mori poll of 500 UK consumers, conducted on behalf of chip maker McCains, also found that 18% of smokers were more likely to eat in a pub now the ban is in effect.

Adrian Greaves, McCain’s associate director of food service, said: “The results of the independent poll are fantastic news for pubs selling food, providing a significant opportunity to increase food sales.”
