Former Mitie directors launch new FM and catering provider targeting London and the South-east

Anthony Bennett and Robin Hay, former directors at facilities management (FM) company Mitie, have left to set up their own business, Bennett Hay.

Bennett Hay has been launched to exploit a niche for catering and facilities management services at medium-sized companies, initially in London and the South-east. Traditionally these have been overlooked by the national catering and FM players because of their scale.

"To address this we're launching the Boutique Collection offer, which will see us put in place a single team to deliver all of the services the client needs - catering, post room, reception, housekeeping, etc. In our opinion no one operating within this space is doing that well at the moment," Bennett told Caterersearch.

Bennett Hay will look to unify disparate services - whether they are delivered in-house or outsourced - introducing a hotel mentality, with the equivalent of a general manager leading a multi-skilled team to improve service and reduce costs for the client.

The company expects to reveal its first contract win within weeks.

Bennett said he and Hay had decided to go it alone following the unification of the three limited companies that provided Mitie's catering nationally, and the resulting change from equity partners to employees.
