Chilango confirms Sheffield site closure

Mexican fast casual dining chain Chilango has closed its Meadowhall site in Sheffield.

The move leaves the firm, run by former Skype executives Eric Partaker and Dan Houghton, with three sites in central London and one in the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.

Commenting on the decision, Partaker said: "The economics of the site simply didn't work for us and while we had created thousands of super-fans up North the trade it simply wasn't attractive enough to keep it open. The growth potential for Mexican food remains massive, as we continue to witness in our remaining sites."

"We're looking forward to opening more sites in London, where we remain the public's favourite, having just been voted No. 1 Mexican and Best Buy in the Zagat London Survey, for the second year running."
