Irénée moves to Maison Novelli
Monsieur Irénée, the restaurant manager who will not reveal his Christian name, has joined Maison Novelli in Farringdon, London.
He previously worked in the same position at La Truffe Noire, another London restaurant. M Irénée said he wanted to create a friendly, informal atmosphere at Maison Novelli, while providing the very best levels of service.
Swapping Comfort for Quality
Gianni Arrighi has been appointed general manager of the 94-bedroom Quality Friendly Hotel, Loughborough, Leicestershire, moving from the same position at the 75-bedroom Comfort Friendly Inn, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.
Sian Hughes, previously deputy manager at the Comfort Friendly Inn, Newcastle-under-Lyme, takes over as general manager there.
Longleat gets new Traynor
Simon Traynor has become executive chef at Center Parcs, Longleat Forest, near Warminster, Wiltshire. He previously worked at the Gloucester Hotel in London, also as executive chef.
Meanwhile, the former executive chef at Longleat Forest, Stan Berweck, has been promoted to catering manager for all of the resort's nine restaurants.
Lloyd to leave David lloyd leisure
After months of speculation, David Lloyd has resigned as chairman of David Lloyd Leisure, a division of Whitbread. His consultancy to the company is also ending, by mutual agreement.
It is understood that Mr Lloyd is now to pursue business ventures in Australia and China.
Peter Jarvis, Whitbread's chief executive, claimed that the disagreements between the company and Mr Lloyd had been "more of style than substance".
Michael Cottrell
Michael Cottrell, chairman of Enterprise Inns, died unexpectedly from a heart attack last week, aged 57. He had spent almost his entire career within the drinks industry.
For the time being, Keith Millar, a non-executive director, has been named acting non-executive chairman, pending the appointment of a successor.
