Plans for a £145m, 600 bedroom Ibis at London’s Trocadero centre have been rejected.

Building owner Golfrate submitted a planning application for the redevelopment of the centre in June 2006.

However, a report in the London Evening Standard says the council has turned town the application despite a recommendation for the scheme from planning officers.

The design of the multi-level hotel by Criterion Capital was branded as “hideous” and planning chairman Alistair Moss said the height and bulk of the development would need to be reassessed.
