Menu at Bel Canto dubbed ‘diabolical’ by food critic

Bel Canto, the restaurant in the City of London where opera singing staff serenade to the diners, serves a menu that is “simply diabolical”, according to Marina O’Loughlin.

The Metro’s food critic says that while she loves the singing waiting staff, the food is the “worst, most overpriced and inedible food I've endured in nearly ten years of this gig”.

“The menu is peppered with luxury ingredients but each is pulverised with ineptitude,” she concludes.

Meanwhile Bloomberg’s Richard Vines finds Japanese restaurant Soseki, also in the City, a tad too expensive for the current time.

“Perfect for a time of plenty, that is, and possibly not quite right for a period when extended lunches are out and a nod in the direction of frugality goes a long way,” he says.
